GET TO KNOW YOUR NEIGHBOUR HUB.

We asked the community to bike, walk or roll to ‘Get to know your Neighbour Hub’, a weekender event in Victoria on May 22 - 24th, to celebrate the install of Neighbour Hub 003 - Vic West’s newest community-led social infrastructure.
The community was able to enjoy City of Victoria’s cycling network, stop by and snap a photo of the HUB 003 on Harbour Rd, and head over to a participatory business to receive special discounts, products and more!
Hub 003 is our third Neighbour Hub collaborative project aimed at enhancing neighbourhood public spaces to inspire connection, resilience and community.
The bench design, inspired by the coastal waters of the Vancouver Island region, is equipped with varying and accessible seating and table options, internal storage for emergency supplies, a solar powered charging station, and a community bulletin board that includes local emergency information.
MORE INFO ABOUT NEIGHBOUR HUB 003:
CO-CREATED DESIGNS BROUGHT TO LIFE.
Phase 1 of the Hub 003 project began in the spring of 2020 with VicWest community members coming together through a collaborative design process to co-create the Neighbour Hub. This gathering, hosted by us, Building Resilient Neighbourhoods, and the City of Victoria, was an opportunity for neighbours, local businesses and organizations to learn about the project and provide feedback to the design team.
Guided by results of the design process, Neighbour Lab has designed a functional and innovative structure aligned with the needs of residents and community partners. This creative installation will provide community members with a coast-inspired bench and table design, natural hazard emergency information and supplies, and a public space along the Galloping Goose to stop by, rest and connect.
Neighbour Hub 003 is located on Harbour Rd in the Victoria West community on the traditional land of the Lək̓ʷəŋən People, known today as the Esquimalt and Songhees Nations.
